Dialing-in to restart process after Dr.

By shorters ·
I have an NT server that suffers from
occasional Dr. Watson errors. I have a
direct line into the server via a modem. Is
there a way for me to dialin to the server,
acknowledge the error message and
restart the stopped service without using
PCAnywhere or a similar software
package?

Dialing-in to restart process after Dr.

You are going to have to use some kind of desktop sharing program to acknowledge the Dr. Watson and restart the service. This is because you will need to a. acknowledge the Dr. Watson and b. you can start or stop services from the services applet or from command line but you would have to set up something to give you local drive access to run the command line executables. If price is an issue there is a free piece of software you can get called VNC viewer. It seems pretty easy to setup I think you can still get it from download.com ...Good luck with this..
