You're going to need a lot of lists.

What critical tasks are being done on a daily basis? Which tasks, if you were unable to do them, would affect the company's ability to serve its customers, hurt the company's reputation, or prevent it from paying employees and vendors or collecting money?

For each business unit engaged in those tasks, you need a contact list of team members, plus their list of key vendors.

What critical applications are being used by each line of business? You'll need a strategy for recovering those apps - and the data - at an alternate work site or data center.

That should prime the pump.

Started with my front yard

by Montgomery Gator In reply to Diaster Recovery Where to ...

After Hurricane Ivan blew through my area last week (Montgomery, AL), I started my Disaster Recovery Plan with my front yard by removing tree branches, since people see my front yard. I proceeded with my back yard (which is surrounded by a privacy fence) after I was done with my front yard. People farther south (coastal Florida panhandle and coastal Alabama) have much greater concerns, like getting power, or even finding shelter, for their plans. Plans vary due to the size and nature of the Disaster.
