Did Outlook Express Survive...

By rwbyshe ·
One of my customers is using Win 7 Home Premium (64 bit) and has Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise installed.

My customer is totally frustrated with using the Office 2007's version of Outlook and would love to go back to using Outlook Express.

Here's my problem. I can't find that it exists within Win 7 or in Office 2007 Enterprise!

Does anyone have any help or direction for this problem?

Thanks in advance.

RE: Did Outlook Express Survive

Out look Express was changed to 'Windows Mail' in Vista. Windows 7 does not include 'Windows Mail'.
You can get it from Microsoft at http://download.live.com/ .

Data may be a challenge

I downgraded a customer years ago on 2K, and the big challenge was data migration.

Outlook included an import to pull the data from Outlook Express very easily. But there was nothing to go the other way, and getting the data FROM Outlook back into OE was tedious.

No OE in Windows 7

it was changed to Windows Live Mail, I believe. I heard that "Mail" is compatible with Outlook though.

Here M$ dumped OE several years ago when they released Vista

And IE8. If your customer doesn't like Outlook and wants to use a M$ Mail Client they are stuffed as Outlook is the only alternative supplied by M$ these days.

You could try them with Thunderbird

But there is no way to install OE onto any Windows 7 System so it's Dead and Buried.

I am unsuccessful creeping up upon the complex at Redmond, blade clamped between my teeth, extracting from them the simplicity and quaint allure of Outlook Express.

I kinda liked it.

Your thoughts on OE ...

by OldER Mycroft In reply to Not unless

'Simplicity and Quaint' it most definitely was - however, in order to behave in that fashion it needed to be untreated sewage and utter shite.

Using it, other users' installations, made we want to boke!
