Difference Between Run and Run as

By bhaskar.bhaskar ·
We have a VB 5.0 executable which uses some dcom components and sql server databases. It works normally on NT.But the same exe attempted to start on XP we get Automation Error. But when we run after right click,run-as and use the same user id it works properly. Can someone throw light on difference between normal run and Run as..

Run As simply allows you to execute something with different credentials that you are currently logged in as.

For instance, it is generally a good idea to not give your self Domain Admin rights. Rather, anytime you want to do something as Domain Admin you execute things with Run-As and provide the Domain Admin account user ID and password.

Run only allows you to execute something as the user currently logged in.

Thats true..we have noticeable difference when we execute things with same ID we used to login into the machine when used in the Run as.I want to know what are the things that get changed between Run and Run as if I use the same ID in both cases.
