different operating systems on PC

by jonmustafa . Updated 23 years, 8 months ago

I have a desktop PC with a removable hard drive carriers, each hard drive carrier has a different operating system installed on it, on my old PC i would take out lets say the windows ME hard drive carrier and put in a windows 2000 hard drive carrierand it would boot to that sysytem, but with my new machine each time i try to install a new operating system onto a blank hard drive it fails the installation, a friend of mine suggested that the reason i cant install other operating systems onto mynew Pc is because i installed windows XP first onto my PC and XP has written to my motherboards bios, thus not letting other operating systems to coexist with it, is there any way that i can have multiple operating systems, each on its own hard drive on a pc that i have installed windows XP onto?
