Different start up programs - home/ away

By TwoKidsOneCat ·
I end up on the road a reasonable amount and have a number of programs I do NOT want to have run when I am not in my home office ... i.e., NAS drive access, backup program, other stuff. Any ideas on how I can do this?

There may be two ways, an easy way and a hard way. The easiest method would be to put a script/bat file in startup that pings a local device at your home, or it could ping a website if you consistently startup your computer when traveling when it is disconnected. If the ping receives a response, the script can launch your "home" startup items. If it does not receive a response, you can have items that launch for "away".

The hard way would be a manual process of having a "home" script and an "away" script that you double-click when you are in the respective climate. But, who wants to do things the hard way, right?
