Is it possible to have different user profiles in windows 98, much like windows XP. user A & user B will see their own desktop configurations and files when they log in.

Yes, it is possible for two users to log in with their own credentials and they will have their own separate profiles.

You need to go to the Control Panel and click the icon Users to enable the multi-user capability.

Please note that you will not be able to protect the profile directories if the users really want to get into the contents of the hard drive. Without any additional security applications, anyone can press Cancel at the login and access the system.

Windows XP with the NTFS file system is the answer if your environment requires higher security.

I would concur with the first answer.
However, you can use somethin called POLEDIT which is on the windows 98 disk.
If i remember right you need the disk in to run it.
You could then lock down the PC in this way.
