Digital Monitor Problem

By BorgInva ·
I was given (for free) a large and heavy 21" monitor by DIGITAL. Model PCXAV-WZ.
The previous owner said it was good. When I hooked it up at work, it was fine for the 5 minutes it was on. I take it home to my home office and I turn it on, and whether I am on DOS or Windows on my PC, the monitor will flicker very fast for several times and powers off. If I turn the monitor on without the video cable attached and it does the same thing. I turn off the POWER SAVING and it helps a bit but it still will flicker.
Anyone have any experiance with this type of monitor? It has buttons and settings I do not understand and I can not find anything on the webreally on this.
If you can, please assist.

One of the reason can be:
Your monitor is old and moist. When it goes from a warm place to a cool place or vice versa, water drops form inside the monitor. You may let the monitor becomes dry and then switch it on again.

Hope this helps!

Sorry, but this puppy is not going to get any dryer. It was never even wet.

Check your video settings. I found a site that lists the correct settings for this monitor; exceeding them can cause flickering.Horizontal Rate: 30.0-95.0; Vertical Rate: 50.0-152.0. Unfortunately I found very little in English, but I hope this solves it for you.

The monitor was possibly damaged durring transport. The main board may have had a bad solder joint or loose component. With the power on try wiggling the cable connection at the back of the monitor to see if it helps. This monitor still sells for over 200.00 since ou got it free it may be worth repairing.

No help. Power stays stable until plugged into my video cards. It is a video card incompatability. What I really need are the directions to these settings.
