Digital projector crops projected image

By bldsm ·
I have a new HP Compaq nz9010 laptop and a Mitsubishi Digital Projector LVP-X80U. When I project a presentation, the desktop or anything the projector crops off the left hand side of the screen - about 2 inches worth. According to Microsoft PowerPoint the solution is to set the laptop at a lower resolution more suited to the projector or to turn off the laptop screen while projecting. Changing screen resolution doesn't help and the only thing that will work is toggle off the laptop screen view (but then I can't read from the laptop screen and have to turn around and look at the screen).

Does anyone know of a better solution, a patch or a fix out there.

Thank you
Bruce

It sounds like there may be a physical obstruction in the projector. I have seen copiers suddenly start cutting the top or bottom of pages off because a part moves and blocks a mirror inside the machine. If this projector does this all the time, at all resolutions it is probably not your computer. Generally laptops scroll the screen if resolution is set to high this would appear to crop bottom and right not top and left. Try VGA 480X640 settings. This is as low as it gets, if it doesn't work there it needs to be checked out by a service person.

The LVP X80U has a resolution of 1024 x 768, but it should be compatible with any screen resolution from 640 x 400 to 1280 x 1024.You might need new projector control software or RS232C control codes. These would be available for download from mitsubishi.
