Dim screen on dropped laptop

By Lifestyles ·
Have a Compaq Presario 1920 which was dropped flat on it's backside edge. Everything works except the screen is barely visible. Very Dark, just barely able to make out what is on the screen. Any suggestions as to whether this can be fixed? or could it be a part is shot.
Thanks for any and all replies

Dim screen on dropped laptop

The LCDs on most of the laptops that are dropped, tend to break/crack over time anyway. I've replaced the plastic covering to a Compaq Armada M300, only to find a month later the user came back with a cracked display. The more it is opened and closed, the greater the stress becomes until it fractures anyway.

I would recommend that you replace the lcd and see it that helps. Look at the video adaptor or systemboard if it is not resolved with another lcd.

There are several possibilities...and it may be that you have just broken the backlight. It's not too hard or expensive to fix this, but getting someone to sell you the part may be a headache.

Take a look here for some more information that may assist. These people sell backlights and other laptop replacement parts as well.

i had investigated the backlite scenario, but this is a relatively newer laptop, and it doesnt use the old backlites... While a replacement screen is almost $2000. Canadian, I wonder if it is not something as simple as the small chipboard just underthe screen possible being broken. Disconnecting it makes no difference, display signal still gets to the screen. It is just unable to be backlit...

has anyone had any experience with this possible scenario?
