Hi ….I am actually working on a directory of my own. Its going to be published as well as online. Similar to a telephone directory, but of medical suppliess and suppliers. I don’t know what softwares to use, i’m familiar with indesign and quark . .from the visual design standbpoint. . .but . .I don’t if they will serve the purpose. I need a database for companies. . one that will allow me to export the business listings into a layout program and that will also export or work with the website .and will hopefully be searcheable as well. any suggestions on layout programs, databases. I was told to use excell and indesign but i wonder if there is something more efficient.
and I have some questions about the logistics of putting this together. I have used indesign and quark in the past but being that this is a a listing of business and there is a database in the process of forming. I wonder if I should be using another layout software, were should I create the database of business so it will be easy to export into the layout program. I am familiar with excell and indesign / quark, but I don’t know if this is the best way, there has to be a better way. Are you familiar how YP does this?
