directory replication problem

By rgajjar ·
Hi guys, hope someone can help me out.

I have two NT servers a PDC and a BDC, the PDC is set up as an export server to replicate data to the import directory on the same server and also the import directory on the BDC. All paths are set as default.

The problem is I get the NO SYNC message when clicking on manage within the replication icon within properties in server manager on both servers, the error log doesnt give any replication error messages. The strange thing is is sometimes if Iremove the scripts subfolder within replication settings and add it back again it does the replicate, but then later returns to the NO SYNC state.

I cant see why it isnt working.

Hopefully someone has come across this problem and came up with a solution.

Hopefully someone can help
thanks guys

directory replication problem

Hi,

Check the following article from Microsoft re: Setting up directory replication...

support.microsoft.com Q101602

I reckon that its simply that the service hasn't been started as part of the setup....

"Choose the Directory Replicator service and choose Startup. Change the Startup Type from Manual to Automatic."

This could mean that the replications would happen spasmodically when you specifically request one - and you'd get the NO SYNC message the rest of the time.

Failing that, there's other useful info on that page that may be able to help you.

Cheers,
Tim.
