directory replication to W2K ?

By mike_m ·
Hi. Can't succeed to start directory replicator from NT4.0 SP6 server (export) to W2k WS (import).
Works ok from NT4 srv to NT4 ws. Any hint ?
Thanks, Mike.

Firstly, what exactly are you trying to accomplish? File replication? SAM replication?

Generally spoken, the OOTB replication service in Windows is version-specific. The NT service is not compatible with the W2K service, as simple as that. However MS, and 3rd parties, offer many alternatives that do run the same on both platforms. One example is MS Robocopy, which is included in the NT resourcekit; you _can_ run this safely on the W2k WS also.

Have fun,
