When you initially install Active Directory, the DC Promo wizard asks you to provide a password for the administrator account to be used with Directory Services Retore mode. If you can't remeber what that is, you can use the following URL to find a bootdisk that will allow you to change that password:

http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html

(Remove any spaces.)

Hopefully this helps!

Cheers,
Shawn

I did not use this but I did check it out and I belived it would have worked. I was able to use answer 2 and it was quicker. But I still felt that your answer was also correct

Yep. The Directory Services Restore Mode password is different from your Administrator password. It does ask you for the DSRM password during the DCPROMO process.
If you can still log into the Domain Controller, then there are ways to change the DSRM password. Read this Technet article for ways:

hope this helps
