directX support

Hi,
Iwould like to up date my OPS winME I have a radeon 7000/VE graphics card it supports directX8 and OPENGL somebody cautioned me that to make sure that graphic card driver supports directX9 before updating winME, how will I find out if the present driver which is installed will support directX9? I do not wish to destroy my pc I cannot afford another one.
Please help as to how I can solve this problem.

to to www.ati.com to check the specs of your card. you won't hurt anything. just install directx 8 and see how that works. if you need to, install directx 9

The latest Radeon driver from ATI supports DirectX 9.

You need to install DirectX 9 before installing the new Catalyst driver from ATI.

So, go to ATI's web site and download the latest version of the Radeon driver.

Install DirectX 9c.

Install the updated ATI driver.

You should be all set.

Actually DirectX 9.0 has nothing to do with Display driver.. You may install direcxX 9.0 safely and don't need to worry about side effect.
I did tested before.
