Diredt cable connection

I'm trying to use Direct cable connection with a win98 and & a win2k computers . The win98 computer waits for the guest to logon but I cannot get the win2k computer to talk to the host. It keeps showing a error

You must have settings 100% the same on both ports & in the network properties. Check bios for lpt port config, enable bidirectional if option, if not use ecp or epp. Make sure domain name is same just for thoroughness. Good luck!

Almost forgot, you need a parallel cable designed for direct cable connections. It will work if the hardware is a/ok using these suggestions.

Please, share with us who can not see that far, the error message(s) in their totality, the symptoms point to the cause, and so to the cure ...

To get direct cable connect to work you must have IPX/SPX compatible protocol installed on both PC's, Windows 2000 only default installs TCP/IP which will not do you any good on the direct cable connect.
