Disable ability to use Shift-Delete keys

By Central ·
I am trying to find a way to stop users from being able to bypass permanently deleting things (using shift-delete). Does anyone know how to do this? Right now email and files can be permanently deleted this way and I want to save time and not haveto restore things.

The shareware version of TabIt can be downloaded for evaluation by clicking on one the above links.

Ctrl+Insert and Ctrl+Delete now work differently; they no longer move bar lines. The new Shift+Insert and Shift+Delete key combinations are used to move bar lines.

Niffty utility: ShortKeys is a macro utility allowing you to setup replacement text or paragraphs for any given number of user defined keystrokes. ShortKeys monitors the keyboard activity on a global nature and anytime a user defined keystroke combination is typed in, it will be replaced with the replacement text.

I assume that you know, if a file from a network drive was deleted this file don't go to recycle bin (for this issue you must use a third app like Undelete). Also deleted e-mail are temporary stored in a separate Deleted folder in your Outlook application.
I don?t know how you can stop users to use shift key. But suppose you can do that, the next step is to stop users to empting the recycle bin. Next question is what happens when recycle bin is full?
I think that the users are responsible fortheir files. If they delete files they must work again to recover data from these files. All you can do is to take all precautions to allow full access to files only for owners.

If a user say you "I don't know what happend!" then you can enable an audit for the folder of this user and if this happend again you can show him what was in fact.

The simplest method that I can think of is to re-map the keyboard, and remove the shift-delete combination.

Or better yet, assign it as a second delete. That way, the user will think it still works, and will not attempt to find a work-around.
