Disable I.E. Error Reporting Tool

By davidadamson ·
Being in a corporate environment, we wish to disable the I.E. error reporting tool when we upgrade to v5.5 SP2 on Win98/NT clients. According to MS Q276550, this can be done by going to Add/Remove programs and uninstalling the
tool. Explorer is being installed using a package created in IEAK and "Internet Explorer Error Reporting" is not being displayed in Add/Remove programs but the files Dwintl.dll (v 10.0.2627) and Dw15.exe (v 10.0.2701) are being installed as suggested in the article.
Can anyone please offer any solutions?

Disable I.E. Error Reporting Tool

I would look into creating a new package for deployment that doesn't have error reporting included in the package. You should be able to not include it when creating the package file. It might be a pain in the but to re-create the package file butas far as I know that's the only way.

Re: Answer 1
Unfortunately, IEAK does not display the Error Reporting Tool as a component which can or cannot be installed. It seems that it's in there by default and cannot be changed. (Microsoft's way of forcing it on us without thinking about corporate use). A lot of the client machines have Intranet only access and do not have access to the Internet, meaning that any Error Reporting will fail. A headache our helpdesk doesn't really need!
