Disable "Save Password" in DUN for 95/98

By Bad Dog ·
How do I turn off "Save Password" Option in DUN on Win 95 and Win98 connecting to NT Server.
Have found regedit articles for NT
(HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasMan\Parameter s...DWORD-
DisableSavePassword=1) but can't find anything for Win95/98.

Obligatory regedit warning: back it up! :)
OK, I've ran into the same problem and had to solve it two different ways for two different machines. For the first machine, I merely uninstalled client for microsoft netoworks and client for netware networks in the network applet. The save password was always greyed out after that. I tried this same technique on a different machine and it did not work. So, I went to the MSKB, found the fix for the opposite situation and applied it in reverese. Basically: Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Network I added a DWORD value of DisablePwdCaching with a data value of 1. This took care of the DUN password being saved, but it also meant that passwords for network resources were also not saved. Hope this works for you. Happy Hunting!

I want the ability to access my NT Domain so removing the client is unacceptible. As far as the latter suggestion, I do want to cache other passwords; just not the NT Domain password. Appreciate your suggestions as they are the most intelligent I have received so far. Thank you
