Disable Standard CD Player

By ljackson.desoto ·
Hello-
I installed a creative sound card and got it to work at one time, but tech supposrt helped me. I remember they had me disable the standard windows cd player (I think) because the sound card will only work with media platyer. I have media player installed and the cd looks like it is playing, but there is no sound coming out. Does anyone know how to disable the standard cd player? Tech support is closed to day and this is for someone who brought their computer in from out of town.

Thanks.

Seems unlikely that the sound card is limited to using only WMP. There are two ways that audio can travel from the CD player to the sound card;

1) Analogue - via flyleads (the soundcard acts only as a preamp)

2) Digital (DAE - Digital Audio Extraction) - via the databus

If your CD is not connected via flyleads to the soundcard then you need to enable DAE in the media player settings/options.

I do agree that every souncard is not limited to work with WMP Only. Be sure you have the audio connector from your CD drive to your souncard connected if you are playing an audio CD. Other than that you would need to check if your volume properties are configured to work properly.
