Disable write protection

Is this a plain KDT, or does it come woith software?

If it has it's own software, read the instructions for your device. You should have instructions which came with it, or you can look them up for your specific model at the Kingston support site. Frequently, this is as simple as sliding a switch.

Note that if you write-protected documents with encryption on one computer, you may only be able to decrypt them on the same machine, same user account.

If it is Windows write-protection. simply right-click the write-protected file, choose Properties, remove the check next to Read Only, and potentially also click Unblock.

a physical slide switch on them.
one position locks it into read only, one allows read-write use.
like old floppys or the write-protect tab on cassettes.
