Disabling Alt key (follow up)

By marvin2296 ·
So are you saying that there is no possibility of disabling the alt key of the keyboard. What if I will use the regedit. Is there any possibility? One of the reason is related to ONLINE GAMING.

as far as I know, windows scans the keyboard and passses the keypresses thru with no filtering. maybe a custom keyboard layout? no reg edit that i know of...
is this to protect your kids? think you need to blacklist the sites in the router or use a net nanny type program. the kids are hip to so many ways around stuff. maybe just lock up the computer...

There is only one possibility that I can think of here and that is to dismantle a Keyboard and physically remove the ATL pads then reassemble it.

I'm not sure if Windows XP will accept this though as it's possible that it will spit up a keyboard Error message if you mess up the removal.

It also helps to close off any previous questions so that people don't keep responding to them or add a comment to them instead of asking a new question.

If this is game related you could always go into the setup options [of the game] and chose a different function for the ALT keys. But other than that I'm not sure if what you are asking is possible.

have to remap the keyboard via character mapping.

One can't disable keys on the keyboard because the keyboard is the default interface between the user and the computer. Windows relies upon the keyboard for its interface and can change what keys mean via character mapping but there isn't a registry hack to disable a single key on a keyboard from sending information when pressed to Windows [again character mapping changes what that information would be e.g. change the ALT key to mean something different than ALT.

HAL has the right idea, remove the key on the keyboard so it can't be pressed or if pressed doesn't send information to Windows.

if this is game related, get a game pad
that takes the place of the keyboard. The Nostromo game pad is what I'm thinking that would solve your problem.
