Disabling CTRL+ALT+DEL

By pauly4190 ·
How can I disable the ctrl+alt+del sequence in Win2k without also disabling just any one of those keys? Can I do it without 3rd party software?

From a profile with Administrator privileges, click Start > Run and type MMC.
In the Microsoft Management Console (MMC), pull down File and select Add-Remove Snap-In.
In the Add Standalone Snap-In dialog select Group Policy and click Add, Finish,Close, then OK.

Now you should have a console for Local Computer Policy. Traverse the tree at the left to Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Local Policies > Security Options, then in the right panel, find Do Not Require Ctrl-Alt-Del and enable the policy.

Be very careful when changing any other security policies... you can lock yourself out of local logon.

Agree, The only way to do that using the Group policy.

MMC > Add/Remove Snap-in > Group policy > Local Computer
Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Local Policies > Security Options
Disable Ctrl+Alt+Del requirement for logon

It mightslow the system few seconds to apply the policy (But it's just few seconds).

My take on the question was a little different. If you're trying to disable the special function of the Ctrl-Alt-Del while logged in, it is not possible to do, with the only possible option being a custom GINA.
