Disabling Dr. Watson

By Krisu ·
We are having some problems with Dr. Watson crashing Network Associates VirusScan. I need to know the registry values to change to disable Dr. Watson. I know how to disable Dr. Watson by opening the drwtsn32.exe file and changing the values to 0, but it's a little difficult to go over every computer by hand. I'd like to know how to fix this by tweaking the registry.

Perhaps an easier way would be to use the login script to rename the file.

Maybe so, but I want to know the registry value, because we have the problem also with Windows 2000 and I think, it might notice that drwatson is missign and repair itself.

There is a freeware program called Installrite that you can get at http://www.epsilonsquared.com/.
This program will take a complete snapshot of you entire system. You do your installation or modifications to the workstation and when you have finished you can see all the changes to the system. The other highlight to the program is it will allow you to make an exe that will do the same to another workstation.

The Reg key is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug:auto.
To disable Dr. Watson change the value of auto to 0. The value of 1 will activate Dr. Watson.
