    Disabling IIS Login Box

    Locked

    by wallacejohnathan ·

Hello, I’ve recently purchased a dedicated server to host my files, mainly movies, some of them work fine when I put them in my /VIP directory, by being able to go to say mysite.net/vip/vid1.avi and it will prompt for a download. However some other videos ask for a login before letting you download and I don’t want this, I managed to get arround it a few times by going to the files properties, security, then advanced and ticking the two boxes at the bottom about inheriting parent directory permissions. This is ok the first few times but since I will be regularly putting files in the folder it becomes a bit of a nightmare.
I’ve tried various combinations like allowing/disallowing directory access, read/write permissions etc but nothing seems to work.

    Thanks In Advance

In sead of saying “inherit parent permissions” on the files, change the properties on the VIP folder itself (under the same spot you did it for the files).
One box says inhereit from parent the other says ‘Replace permissions on all child objetcs’, thats the one you need to change on folder level
