Disabling the 'track-pad' on a laptop

By CookieMonster59 ·
I recently read a Tech Republic article abt. disabling the track-pad on a laptop (mine uses Windows Vista), and I thought I followed the instructions to a 'T', even to the point of erasing the track-pad driver (I'm pretty sure I did this), but the track-pad still causes typing errors when my thumb touches it while typing.

What make and model of laptop

If the trackpad isn't hidden from the system, it may reinstall itself.
On one of my computers, there's a special button to turn off the trackpad. On another laptop, I need to hit "Fn" together with a function key to turn it off.

What model of laptop do you have?
