Disappearing Attachments

This is copied from partners email to me.
I just witnessed a strangeness of email that I have never seen before! The award goes to Brenda for a disappearing attachment!
She had gotten an itenerary from Brownell Travel; it was attached as a .htmfile, which opened IN the email when she opened the mail, as if it was in the text body. AFTER closing the mail, there was no longer an attachment to the email! Not at ALL! She had them send it a second time- the same thing happened. And a third time, for me to see.
While we could view the attachment, I saved it to the desktop, so she would have it, but upon closing the email, there was no longer an attachment icon on that particular email, nor was there an .htm file associated with it!
Ihave never seen anything like this before, but I advised her to save the files before closing emails, so that she has them. I sent the file we saved to myself, and it acts normally, so I don't know what might have happened with the original . . .Anybody with any thoughts or ideas on THIS one?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Are you using Exchange Server in your network environment or Is this a stand alone pc using POP3 Email?
If it is in a network environment and you are using Exchange Server, Does your company has an Intranet Setup?
If so you could log on to Exchange using your Internet Explorer Browser and your Intranet and view your messages directly from the Server isolating the workstation as a possible problem.
The simplest thing to check is make sure you go to your email view drop down menu and set it toview all messages.

I don't assure you another input from myself due to my busy schedule but hope this might help you. If so it doesn't hurt to know about it.

Are you using Exchange Server in your network environment? Yes The only thing I have figured out is that it happens to everybody, but only .HTM files. Once you look at it and that is all. It asked if you want to saved changes. If you say yes attachment disappears, if no it stays in email. Go figure, probably some microsoft programming issue.

Check the filtering options in Outlook. In Outlook, highlight your inbox, Goto the VIEW menu - under current view - select Customize Current View. A VIEW SUMMARY window should pop up. Look at the Filter button, if it says "Off" to the right of it, then nothing is filtered. But if it says something else, then Select the filter button, clear out any settings or configurations in all the tabs. Exit and try an e-mail test again.

It ended up being a problem that Microsoft and Norton knew about, but didn't know how to fix. System admins figured it out. Supposed to get an answer that is more comprehensive from system admin on Monday. Will post answer when I get complete answerfrom him.
