Disappearing Dial-Up Networking Connecti

By Pamela.bunch ·
On laptop with Win2000 Pro, I create a dial-up networking connection, name it, and make it available to all users. Shortcut appears on desktop for all users. Use shortcut to connect to network. Log off. Log back on and attempt to use dial-up networking connection. Receive message that it does not exist. Unable to find evidence of its existence other than icon on desktop.

I would hold the Win2k OS Suspect

by john In reply to Disappearing Dial-Up Netw ...

This sounds like a "typical glitch' that can only be explained by a corrupt file(s) in the OS. Are there any other "strange things" happening on that machine, or does it require constant attention? If so, that's probably a good indicator it's time to repair or re-install the OS. Do you have an ERD Floppy & win2k pro CD? If so you could try doing a windows 2000 repair. If not, probably quicker to consider a "Factory Restore" if you have all the application CD's on hand.
Good Luck....John
