Disappearing installed software

By ruedac ·
We just recieved some laptops and upon initial installation, my staff and I also loaded 3 pieces of software under our own names. Before loading the software, we joined into our domain instead of logging into the local computer. My question is the following. When we started handing these laptops out, we had to reset all the shortcuts that were created to the desktops and the pritners that were added before. Is there a way that this can show up by default instead of us having to redo this time after time for each user.

Thanks,

Carlos

Copy the "programs" folder from the user profile used to set up the laptops to the "all Users" profile programs folder.
Then copy the shortcuts from the user profile desktop folder to the all users desktop folder. that way any user that logs on to the laptop will see the programs and shortcuts.

The best way to do this is configure the laptop to your desired specifications. (installed apps, printers, shortcuts) Then copy this profile to the default users profile in "C:\Documents and Settings\Default User". This copies everything including the current user registery, which might be required by some of the installed applications.
To copy profiles, Right-Click My Computer and choose properties. Then on the User Profile tab, select the profile you configured and click Copy To.. Typein "C:\Documents and Settings\Default User" and for permitted to use, change to Everyone. Now whenever a new user logs in, they will get that profile you just configured. This is because all new profiles are built from the "Default User" Profile.Thats way when you installed the apps as yourself they did not show when the user logged in. They dont get your profile, but the default instead.
