Disappearing Messages

By bill ·
I have Win2k. Outlook 2k. SP3. When I open an e-mail message and reply to it, the original message disappears from my Inbox. Any thoughts??? This is a non-Exchange setup. Working from .pst.

I didnt see it in mine, but I am on an xch svr. Is it an option from POP or HTTP mail?
I also may have been thinking of the remove from server option (if POP mail), which shouldnt do anything from your .pst.

It is not in recycle bin. Where is this auto-del located?

I think you must have set to "view/unread messges" in the View Settings of the Inbox. Hence the messages are not getting displayed the moment you read a message. Please change the settings to "view/messages". I think this will help.
Best of Luck.

First you said you didn't have an Exchange server and then in a comment you said you did.

What version of Exchange is involved?

I suspect MehulBhai has it correct. This was a very common issue for me at Microsoft. You wouldn't believe how many VPs and CEOs call up on an Alliance contract demanding "immediate data recovery" when it's just hiding unread messages. Heh.
