Disappearing Network Printers

By barneye ·
I have a NT 4.0 single domain network. All my network printers are installed on my PDC. All my win98 clients have a problem with all network printers disappearing. This seems to happen after a print job from the client has just finished. The printers folder is empty and if a user prints a document they get the "Please install a printer first.." Warning. Only a reboot of the client will restore the printers.

Check your SPOOL services on your NT Server.
It is probobly crashing, check Event log.
Also check your Server Properties in your printer folder on NT server. Check where your spool file go and check free space on that partition. You may be low on space on that partition. You will need to reboot you NT server in order to change the spool location.

I found out my problem is caused by a bad update for my virus scanner. MyCIO contacted me and told me they will provide a fix.
