Disaster Recovery

I had to perform a reinstall of NT server 4.0. I was able to restore all of my files back from tape. Is there a way to restore back all of my users, shares, etc.? Thank you!!

Unfortunately, if you don't have at least one backup domain controller on your network, and your PDC crashes, there is no way to recover your security account database (i.e., users). And I don't know of any way to recover sharing information either. You just have to recreate it. Sorry I couldn't give you better news!

Install a second copy of NT in another directory (winnt2), install your backup software, preform a restore from the tape to the original locations. You should be able to boot into your previous version of nt.
