Disaster Recovery & Backup ?’s

by eric . Updated 24 years, 11 months ago

We are trying to come up with a backup/disaster recovery solution for our clients. Our clients consist of mainly small business customers running Small Business Server 4.5 Servers and Windows 98 & 95 workstations.

What we are looking to do:

-We would like to build a Server to hold images of our clients Servers and one or two workstation machines.
-Use image software such as Ghost 2001 or Drive Image 4.0. Or any software that is best suited for the needs. Prefer something that can do images with out having to reboot.
-We need something that can handle IDE & the SCSI interface.
-No compressed images.
-We would like a case that will allow us to easily remove the hard drives.
-We would like to have one free bay to allow us to hook up a drive.
-We would eventually like to this over TCP/IP once we get a T1 line in
-Would a 2000 server box be best?
-What motherboard and case should we use? We do plan on building a very powerful machine

I know that there are other IT departments out there that are doing this or something similar. I would like to know what these other companies are using for their images and backup procedures.

I would appreciate any ideas or information. Please respond with comments suggestions, and possibly any links to other sites that might provide useful information. Thank you for taking the time to read this and Thanks for all the help.
