Trying typing in administrator and the admin password in the run as. Also check to see if your user is a computer administrator or not. Have you tried any SpyWare removal programs, if so, which ones?

For some reason you are now working with a limited account and no longer have administrator privileges. This could have happened if you installed some form of third party security software or someone could have messed with your User Account if there is more than one person using the computer.

The answer is to open the Control Pannel and go to user accounts and then see just how you are logged on. If a password has been instigated by SP 2 or some other 3 rd party security application that you have installed you should know the password but if someone is having a go at you you could be in trouble.

But try altering your user account before anything else and if you are logged on as Admin then have a look as to what other software has been added recently just prior to this happening and if possible remove it to see if it cures your problem.

Lets know how you get on.

If you're having problems running Disk Defragmenter in Windows, try running it in DOS. Here's how:

1. Restart Windows XP.
2. As the system boots up, press [F to display the Operating System Choices menu.
3. Press [F again to display the Windows Advanced Options menu.
4. Select the Safe Mode With Command Prompt option.
5. Select the Windows XP operating system and log in.
6. When the Command Prompt window appears, type Defrag to see a list of options for running the command line version of Disk Defragmenter.
