Disclaimer on all outbound emails

I would like to place a disclaimer on all outbound emails passing through our Exchange server. If possible, I would like to do this at the server.

I’m in a perfect position to answer this question as i had cause to find out what the answer was myself only a week ago.

you have two options – buy an expensive software package which does all sort of other things as well as adding a disclaimer, or you can install one DLL and add your disclaimer in the registry.

if you choose the IMS extension route i’d love to know how you get on – i haven’t had a chance to implement it myself yet.

I’ll agree with GLM – the Microsoft Question quoted does have step by step instructions. use the windows2000faq link I quoted to get the imsext.dll file you’ll need, without having to get the backoffice resource kit.

Check Microsoft’s Q262097: XIMS: Internet Mail Service Extension Message Text Append and Prepend. It gives step by step instructions on installing the dll and adding the registry entries. We used this approach to add a legal disclaimer to all outbound SMTP mail.
