you have a script to launch?

there is an option for mapped drives to reconnect.

you can also create a script to do it. Most POS systems have a a script to run off a server which auto launchs the POS software.

ok, search your computer/folder/file to be mapped-right click onto my computer and search for computer, explore that particular folder or drive, if you right click say explore if should open a small window asking for user/pass and click on to reconnect underneath inside the window, if you click that reconnect , whenever you reboot xp the network always connect with your username and password.
