In Monitor, you can check the user connections, and delete them as neccessary. You will want to go first to see which connection numbers have the file locked open, and then you want to go to connections and kill the connections.

Be careful aboutdoing that when people have databases open. Particularly access. You'll end up with a lot of corrupt files.

we used whohasit from
www.gadgetfactory.com
but never tried it on an NSS volume.

If you go to www.netwarefiles.com you'll find lots of utilities. Under the File Management section, you'll see a few that do exactly what you're after.

YES,
1.- WHO ARE USING THE .EXE FILE
FROM THE SERVER CONSOLE, LOAD MONITOR.NLM, SELECT FILE OPEN & LOCK ACTIVITY AND SELECT THE VOLUME AND FILE.
IT WILL SHOW YOU A LIST WITH THE CONNECTIONS NUMBER OF EACH USER.
WRITE DOWN THE LIST,
2- GO BACK TO MONITOR'S CONNECTION INFORMATION AND START DELETING THE CONNECTIONS BY NUMBER.

There is a third party utility that will clear all connections that have a particular file open. If you like I can find it for you. Just let me know if that is what you're looking for.
