disk error, scans when booting

By jsarinana ·
I'm getting a :
Checking file system on C:
The type of the file system is NTFS.

One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency. You
may cancel the disk check, but it is strongly recommended
that you continue.
Windows will now check the disk.
Cleaning up 3 unused index entries from index $SII of file 0x9.
Cleaning up 3 unused index entries from index $SDH of file 0x9.
Cleaning up 3 unused security descriptors.

13341950 KB total disk space.
3486940 KB in 16742 files.
4232 KB in 979 indexes.
0 KB in bad sectors.
84770 KB in use by the system.
65536 KB occupied by the log file.
9766008 KB available on disk.

4096 bytes in each allocation unit.
3335487 total allocation units on disk.
2441502 allocation units available on disk.

Windows has finished checking your disk.
Please wait while your computer restarts.

The computer is running executive Diskeeper
and shows no problems with the drive
I also checked in Disk mrg. and it shows as healthy.
I just formated and installed Window 2000 SP2 on this computer last week and everything was working just fine nothing has changed.
ANY SUGGESTIONS WHAT TO DO NEXT ?

I had a similar instance with Win2000. In my case, I wound up trying to reformat and start over. That is when I discovered that the drive was failing and the error was the result. Hope that this is not your case. Good luck.

I haven't checked if this applies to W2K or not, but Microsoft has a registry patch for W98 to slow down system shut down so that the HD has enough time to empty it's cache onto the drive before power is removed.

If you get the error only at start-up, this may be a part of the root cause.

Take a look at KnowledgeBase Article Q160963
It may not help figure out why this is happening, but it may help you deal with it.
Hope it helps!
