Display appearance changes on its own

This problem has occured on 2 different computers, one running WIN95 and one WIN98SE. The display appearance has been set to a normal size (ej. Windows Classic) and on its own it changes to another setting (usually High Contrast White Large). Sometime it changes while the computer is on but it usually happens when the computer is turned on.
