Display/color problem after SP2 install

After I downloaded and installed SP2 from Win Update, my display went looney. The colors the control panel only only allowed 16 colors and 4 bits, there were many areas which did not show as solid colors and looked “tweedy,” and I couldn’t correct anything. Even my welcome page has these problems.
