Display EXCEL sheet in browser WYSIWYG

By EdCazini ·
I have a highly formatted excel worksheet that i want to display/render in html/asp, i don't want the excel component to run in the browser. I've tried techniques as getting the excel data as an ADO RS, GetString/GetRows functions, etc., but unfortunately due to the formatting of the cells; merged, bordered, shaded, etc, the browser displays a very ugly result (xls sheets with non-formatted cells work fine). I don't get what i see from my excel sheet.
Any help (with code please, or url links)will be very much appreciated.

Hi Mel,
Sorry but i did not find any articles there that can directly address my question. I searched their whole message board, even the archives, i may have to post the question there myself, i still have to register though. Anyway, thanks all the same.
The keywords to my problem are HIGHLY-FORMATTED and NO-EXCEL-INSTANTIATION, if it was just a simply-formatted sheet or if it's ok to run an instance of excel, it could be done, i've tried it.

Cheers Kabayan,

i could have done that, yes thank you, but to make a short story long ... this is for a web app wherein some roamin'-around-guys make their reports in EXCEL based on layout formats we specify back home (just that, no conversion to any other file format, nothing); then submit these uniform-format but different-content EXCEL reports (most probably they will have the same file names) in a way to this web app back home; the web app will accept the reports, renames each to arbitrary "$g*j!&4?).xls" files so they may not overwrite each other, & records relevant info (the new filename, submitter, date, time, etc.) to a database ... and on the story goes ...

this is a good idea, instead of COM maybe a MACRO can do this? i'm also somewhat concerned of the EXCEL versions used by the remote reporters, some may be using versions as old as Office 4.3, and we've no say in the upgrades, that's why we opted just to let the web app accept the EXCEL files as is and do the conversion itself.
i'm closing this question and award you the points. if you've any further advise pls email me privately.
THANKS
