Display issues & edit sys tray in 2K

By Big John ·
Hello all:

Two Q's in one entry here:

1). I downloaded updates from Microsoft's web site today and after it was done, my screen is all screwed up (much smaller icons and 'fine tuned' characters). I tried decreasing the resolution in "display properties", but this doesn't take me back to the way it was originally. I guess that would be a "Windows" and "Explorer" default(?)

Speaking of IE, web pages no only take up half the screen, whereas before, it was the full screen. I am running 2K on a Compaq Evo N610. As always, your help and timeis appreciated.

2) SECOND Q

In XP, you can go "run", then type "msconfig" and edit your startup stuff and other configuration related things. How can I do this in 2K? There are persistent icons showing up in my system tray that I want to get rid of and can't figure out how to do it.
Again, your time and help are appreciated.

Thanks
John

I can answer your second question. Have a look at this web site.

http://www.techadvice.com/win2000/m/msconfig_w2k.htm

If you would like the XP version, I can email it to you.

for you first question: Have you checked Control Panels>Display and Click Settings tab. Click Advanced and look to see if you are usinig small icons or large icons.

I suggest this since you said you tried changing the resolution already.

For the second question: I thought msconfig is the same as system info, so I would go to Srart>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information.

Hope some of this helps.
Bill
