I’m not sure what makes you think that SP2 and SP3 would have any effect on display settings, because they don’t. You won’t be able to download critical patches without SP2 at the very minimum, so I would put them both back on.
Display settings problems are caused by either display drivers or a policy that will not allow you to save settings on exit. Did you recently change the display drivers? Have you visited HP’s web site to look for the latest display drivers for your display adapter? Are you on a company network?
I PUT BACK SP2/3, IT TOOK ALL DAY.HP HELP SUGGESTED REMOVING AS A SOLUTION.WHEN I BOOTED UP DISPLAY WAS SET AT 8,CHANGED TO 32 BUT IF I SHUT DOWN IT WILL GO BACK TO 8,I NEED TO KEEP IT AT 32,I ONLY DISCOVER THIS WHEN I WENT AWAY, AS I SHUT EVERYTHING DOWN, TILL I RETURNED.AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHEN IT FIRST TOOK PLACE.OR WHY.SO I WILL KEEP LOOKING,I HAD A PROBLEM BEFORE AND THIS SERVICE HELPED.THANK’S FOR YOUR TIME
