Have you defined your cd in config.sys? You should have a device = then your cd sting, then in autoexec.bat you should have a mscdex entry defining referencing the driver and indicating to dos the drive letter you choose to use. If you do have this info and it is in the correct format then I don't know either.

Hi Seecandy ,
The problem you are facing was also faced by my friend and me too ! But it was with our Voodoo Cards . The drivers were in ! Game worked fine !
But exit the game and load it again and BANG ! drivers not found ...
We went to the guyswho sold the PC and they said it was the faulty version of the operating system that they had loaded !
They loaded us with another one !
NOw we both run on the better version of the OS .By the wat , which operating system do you use ? WIN ME ? Hmmm....Thats what we were given...
Now I run Win 98 Second Version !
I think that this may solve your problem .
Goto the guys who sold you the PC ..
Bye
LOve and Blessings
BEST OF LUCK!
Virenda

Check for the settings answer #1 gave, then verify the .SYS referred to in the config.sys file exists on your hard drive.

If this is an OEM CD-ROM on this machine.
If it does not you can get a copy from the windows system disks using the extract/c win???.cab <filename>.sys (it would not hurt to be in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM. I do not recall the .cab numbering scheme for win 3.1, although most were on 3.5" floppies.

If this is an add-on CD-ROM.
You could copy or extract it from their disk.

Good Luck!

Whenever I've had problems with cdrom disappearing I have loaded current motherboard drivers and that seems to work. In your case if the cdrom is loaded off the sound card it may be a little tricker. Try the motherboard drivers and see what happens.
