distribution of files in netware

By Alienrasta ·
I need to obtain some kind of scheduler that will do the following:
1)Unzip 2 files located on a remote netware 5 server.
2) These files will need to be flagged shrw
3) Old files deleted
4) Zip files stored in a backup directory
5) Send some kind of confirmation via email or small text file to my NOC (I am running GroupWise5)

I need this by Monday, October 8th.
Points will be awarded to whoever helps me resolve this task. More points awarded if necessary.

distribution of files in netware

Get hold of the toolbox.nlm & cron.nlm from Novell's web site.
Cron is a scheduler, which will let you schedule ANY task that could be performed at the server console, configured through a text-file sys:\etc\crontab (no extension). Full details are with the download.
Toolbox is an NLM that will add basic file manipulation to the Netware console (you will not need to drop out to another shell), that will work for the local server & remote servers (on the same NDS tree).
Again, full explanations are available with the download - you will need to create a user account that has access rights to the remote server, but I think with these two tools, you should be able to achieve most of what you want to do.
You may have problems with the unzipping part. This might have to be done from a workstation (if using NT, you could try scheduling an AT command).
Hope this helps to some extent - mail me if you want further comments.

Roger, You were very helpful. Even though I was already in track with your suggestions, I was still pleased with your attentiveness to help. As you know, I am still having problems using unzip.nlm and preventing it from running with user intervention. If you come across any solutions, please let me know.
