DIVIDE OVERFLOW ERROR

By rtatek ·
Still having problems on startup

When I do a step by step startup it goes OK until I get to the line

windows/umaxis11.386

if I say Y it freezes up with THAT message

your program caused a divide overflow error
if the problem persists, contact your program vendor

If I say N the computer starts great only I have no scanner.

What OS are you using?

Did you get the latest drivers?

You may be able to rem out the .386 file in your startup and still be able to use your scanner.. try it? see if it works.

One solution is to rem out the line that loads the driver by using a semi-colon (;)in front of the command load line in the system.ini.
Type Sysedit in Start>Run to find the old windows ini files.

Check the UMAX website for drivers - the copy you have installed has a serious problem. It may be corrupted on disk, or may have been bad from the start ( or the wrong version for WinME). If you have the original disk, may get away with removing the current instance from your machine and re-installing, but I like to keep the most current versions as a rule. I don't know off hand the exact steps in WinME, having skipped that flavor of Windows, but it should be clearly documented in Help.
