Divide Overflow Error

NEC 330T Laptop, 266Mhz, W98 SE
When i boot up i am getting the error "your program caused a divide overflow error.
Have not added software or hardware for over two
years. Has been working fine. A drive is external
and i placed a boot disk in drive A try to override the problem. I cannot acccess the system
to explore problem.

It is most likely defective memory or you could use more memory but i would go with the defective memory. If the laptop is over 2 years new memory is not expensive any more.

Also I am assuming you have not installed any windows updates because that is adding new software.

Pick up this patch from Microsoft

This should take care of your problem....if you can't see the link do a search on Q240982 on Microsofts knowledge base...Hope this helps-good luck!!
