Hi all, I have a question I hope someone can help me with. I have a Compaq DL 380 GII server running Windows 2000 that does not have a printer port. My developers have purchased a dongle that needs a parallel port to work. I bought a PCI parallel card for it but I cannot get the card to work. I can load the drivers and recognize the card but when I reboot I get an error that the card LPT port cannot initialize because hardware that the parallel port relies on did not start. I cannot figure out what hardware is being referenced. I have checked the IRQs, verified everything else is working, the box is fully patched and up to date, I am not sure what is wrong. I have googled for days but I cannot find the answer I am looking for. I did install a USB card yesterday and I was unable to use that device either.
Both cards worked fine yesterday in an XP workstation I had laying around to test them with so I know the cards are good.
The cards are mounted in the server on a riser that I cannot find any switches for and the power light is illuminated on the riser. I find in unthinkable that they just don?t work by design. Any suggestions to what I am doing wrong or missing???
