    DLL Hell?

    Locked

    by gaone ·

Chas.- Please help us. The message when I boot up comes across the a DLLfileLTFIL1ON.DLL
cannot be found. I read the article on
“DLL Hell” on this site, and it does not give me any answers.
Perhaps a dammaged hard drive????? or what? Is there a fix-it program, or should I first try to reinstall Windows 98???

The DLL file is part of Lead Tools for Win 32.

I would have to look a little further to find what program it belongs to.

The file I have is dated 11/5/99. There are 3 other related DLL files that I have with the same date.

Did you recentlyun-install a program, or update some hardware?
It may be that either action may have removed the file, but not the link to it in the registry.

I will e-mail you the file.
it belongs in the Windows\System folder.

I will also try and determinewhat program it may belong to.

Found the home page for Lead Tools.

The files may have been part of any number of image programs or browser plug ins.

        http://www.leadtools.com/

They do have some free downloads and patches, but I recommend that you not start downloading unless we can identify a specific program that requires the leadtools plug in. It would likely be safer to re-install the program that needs the leadtools rather than trying to blindly install plug-ins.

I would run scandisk in thourough mode just tomake sure that your hard disk is not starting to fail.

Looking at 2 different systems that I have, it looks like the ltfil10n.dll was installed on my system by On-Track Power Desk.
Probably as part of the file viewer.

Run “SFC” (system file checker) from the RUN box in your Start menu. This will verify your DLL files.
