DMI remote Agent for TCP/IP

By enabrenda ·
I am receiving this error message on a users machine (HP Vectra vl6series)"HP Remote DMI Agent for TCP/IP: TCP/IP Protocol not installed, aborting"
There has been no new configurations, upgrades or software loads.
User booted up machine and could not get to network. There is a yellow exclamation on NIC and can not get that off, yet.

DMI remote Agent for TCP/IP

It sounds like the problem is the NIC. Either the driver has a problem, or the hardware has gone bad. The DMI agent is complaining because IP isn't loaded. IP isn't loaded because the NIC didn't initialize.

If you have an identical NIC, I would replace it first (before you start messing with the software). If you replace the NIC and it still doesn't work, than remove and re-install the NIC driver.

One more thing, make sure you have a network link. I have seen 9x & NT report problems like this if the network is not connected (2000 and XP don't have that problem).

Why dont u try and reconfigure the properties of tcp/ip again. If that dosent work u could always try and disable any Hp proprietry s/w running on the machine.
